The Leave module in HPS LightTouch™ records leave requests, manages the approval process and keeps
track of who has taken what leave and, therefore, the leave entitlement for each staff member. The
module caters for full and part-time staff and takes into consideration public holidays and sickness leave.
In practice, there are many leave types, each of which has a different accounting treatment.
HPS LightTouch™ does not attempt to administer payroll, but as a front-end system it must collect data
about different leave types, specifically dates, type, duration, reason and status. The leave type implies
other factors. Some leave types (e.g. maternity, paternity, sickness) are covered by statute and payment
levels are governed by law, although a company is free to “top-up” the payment.
HPS LightTouch™ manages all common leave types and takes account of their effect on a staff member's
contractual paid-leave entitlement.
